Biography
Coach Benavidez has coached club volleyball for over 15 years and has played volleyball since he was a child. In addition to volunteering his time and sharing his experience with the community, he had the privilege of playing at the highest division of men’s collegiate volleyball in the nation. Growing up in west Texas, volleyball wasn’t a common sport but his hard work ethics, dedication and a small opportunity led him to land at Quincy University under head coach Hadley Foster from 2010-2013. Quincy University is a division I-II NCAA collegiate program located southwest in the state of Illinois. The men’s volleyball program is a member of the MIVA conference along with recognizable schools such as Ohio State University, Loyola University, Ball State University and Lewis University. This conference has a rich history of National Championships having won five since 2010. While attending Quincy University he had a privilege to be coached by many successful players and staff members such as, former junior national team members, and former European league professionals. While majoring in one of the country’s best exercise science programs he, along with staff and technology, learned to break down multiple volleyball body mechanics to better his technique on the court and to further advance his coaching skills with future athletes. He currently resides in Lubbock Texas where he works at University Medical Center, coaches club volleyball and is working towards his PhD in Biological Sciences at Texas Tech University.
